Frameworks we apply

The framework

What it is, and why it matters.

ISO 14064 is the international standard that specifies principles and requirements for quantifying, monitoring and reporting GHG emissions and removals. It comes in three parts: Part 1 (organizational), Part 2 (projects) and Part 3 (validation and verification).

Part 1 defines how to account for emissions at the organization level, with requirements for boundaries, quantification, base year inventory and reporting. It is compatible with the GHG Protocol, but adds formal requirements for uncertainty management and quality control.

The main difference from the GHG Protocol is that ISO 14064 was designed for formal third-party verification (certification bodies accredited by INMETRO or international equivalents).

At scale

When the standard updates, the calculation engine is already up to date.

Aplicabilidade

Who it applies to.

  • Companies that need an inventory verified by an accredited third party (a requirement from clients, regulators or voluntary markets, for example).
  • Organizations that export to markets requiring ISO certification (Japan, Korea, countries with regulated carbon markets).
  • Companies looking for credibility beyond a self-declared GHG Protocol inventory.
